Weekly Support Group Co-Facilitator

These volunteers work directly with a Prevail staff member to facilitate the curriculum of a support group. Tasks include: providing emotional support, offering feedback to the clients, assisting with individual activities, and leading the group in the rare absence of the Prevail staff member. They possess a working knowledge of the group curriculumAdditionally, this individual demonstrates healthy, appropriate boundaries, and agrees to be educated and trained in the area of trauma-informed services and care. They commit to attending group consistently except in the case of a family emergency or illness. Preferred background: Social work, sociology, women’s studies, education, or related field. 

Weekly Support Group Assistant

This individual works under the direct supervision of the Prevail staff member facilitating the curriculum of the group. Tasks includepreparing the room, filing client work, taking children to the restroom if necessary (Children’s Group Assistants), answering the door in the absence of an assigned volunteer, providing emotional support, assisting clients in individual activities, and assisting the group facilitator/co-facilitator with other tasks as needed. Additionally, this individual demonstrates healthy, appropriate boundaries with clients and agrees to be educated and trained in the area of trauma-informed services and care. They commit to attending group consistently, except in the case of family emergency or illness. 

Group Co-Facilitator and Assistant Positions are available for

Adult, Adolescent or Children’s Groups

Most Groups Meet at 6:00 PM once a week for two weeks

A Commitment is asked of at least 3-4 hours per week for 9-12 weeks

 

Police Report Program Assistant

This volunteer team member works under the supervision of Prevail staff to follow-up on police reports from various law enforcement agencies in Hamilton County. Police reports often serve as a first point of contact between Prevail and our clients. This role requires intensive data base training, and thus a level of comfort with technology and computer work. Tasks includereading and organizing police reports, making phone calls to victims, sending follow-up correspondence, and documenting all contacts in the Prevail data base. A working knowledge of Prevail’s mission, services, and resources is necessary for the purposes of making referrals. Additionally, this individual demonstrates healthy, appropriate boundaries with people who have been victims of crime. They commit to a minimum of two to three hours twice a week and attend as consistently as possible except in the case of family emergency or illness. Ideal candidates will be motivated and willing to take guidance from Prevail staff, yet work without direction much of the time. Must respect and maintain confidentiality. The ideal volunteer will be detail oriented, comfortable communicating with people who have been victimized, compassionate, and respectful. Preferred background in social work, sociology, women’s studies, criminology, information technology, or related field.  

Case Management Assistant

This individual works under the direct supervision of Prevail staff member. Tasks includemaking follow-up calls to clients, child advocacy center follow-ups, maintaining a case management list, assisting in writing group curriculum, and working on other tasks and projects as needed. Additionally, this individual demonstrates healthy, appropriate boundaries with families and individuals who have been victims of trauma. They are asked to commit to a minimum of two hours a week and to attend consistently except in the case of a family emergency or illness.  

 

Daytime Front Desk Volunteer

This member of the volunteer team serves as the point of entry for many of Prevail’s clients, so needs to be compassionate, enthusiastic, and energetic. Tasks include: answering the Prevail business and crisis lines during regular hours of operation, welcoming clients as they arrive for appointments, managing crisis walk-in clients and those seeking protective orders, and other duties as needed. This individual will work under direct supervision of a member of the Prevail Administrative Team and will be thoroughly trained before working independently.  

Evening Door Greeter

This volunteer will be the welcoming and friendly face of Prevail for clients who access the office in the evenings for appointments or support groups. Tasks include: being stationed at the reception desk, greeting visitors, facilitating the sign in process, alerting advocates that their appointments have arrived, and directing group members to their correct rooms. These individuals will be asked to present a positive image of Prevail to the public by consistently practicing Prevail’s philosophy of promoting and protecting the confidentiality, dignity, and rights of clients. Completion of light administrative duties may also be requested. This position requires a commitment of 2-3 hours per week and consistent attendance. 

Confirmation Call Assistant

This team member plays a valuable role by contacting clients via the telephone to confirm appointments with their advocates. Taskinclude: making out-going calls from the Prevail office, sending emails when necessary to maintain client safety, and updating advocate calendars. Because they will be interacting directly with clients, these individuals will need to be compassionate, empathetic, and devoted to the Prevail mission. Confidentiality must be maintained at all times. This volunteer will be asked to commit to 2-3 morning hours per week and to attend consistently except in the case of family emergency or illness. Thorough training on the office telephone system and Microsoft Outlook will be provided. 

Community Fairs and Events Volunteer

This volunteer would work independently, covering community information events and/or fairs where Prevail may be invited to attend and provide information and community outreach. It is ideal that this volunteer be comfortable speaking about Prevail's mission, services, and commitment to victims. Typically, fairs are held on week nights, but may occasionally be held on weekend mornings or afternoons. Tasks include: collecting table display items and literature from the Prevail office, setting up and breaking down the exhibit at the site of the event, interacting with the public and promoting Prevail’s services and mission. They will need to be flexible in scheduling, as events and fairs may take place at any time.
