Prevail, Inc. Encourages the Community to “Go Purple” During October for Domestic Violence Prevention Month

Prevail, Inc., a Hamilton County-based non-profit organization advocating for victims of crime and abuse is asking for community partners to join them as they “Go Purple” during National Domestic Violence Prevention Month in October. During this 2022 “Go Purple” Campaign, Prevail is offering local businesses and community members a simple way to stand with each other and work to end acts of violence all together.

The COVID-19 pandemic has fueled an economic crisis which continues to negatively impact families. While the health crisis created by the COVID-19 pandemic seems to be easing, many families are still experiencing economic hardships. “Research shows that domestic violence is three times more likely to occur when a family is experiencing high financial stressors” said Mindy Konrath, Prevail’s Executive Director. “It is important that our community stands together to support victims, letting them know they are not alone, and help is available when they are ready”. Join us in supporting victims. Share why you are Going Purple.

Prevail is asking the community to be creative, pick a day and wear purple. Share your group’s pictures with Prevail and use the hashtag #GoPurplePrevail. To sign up, simply visit Prevail’s website at www.prevailinc.org.

Over the past 35 years Prevail has served nearly 70,000 victims of crime and abuse in our community. Last year, out of almost 3,500 clients served at Prevail, 63% were adults, teens, and children who were victims of family violence. Domestic violence is complex. While crisis intervention is an important immediate response to domestic violence, there is a great need to raise awareness and develop effective prevention strategies.
