Staff Spotlight for September - Beth Dunlop, Administrative Assistant
How long have you been at Prevail and what is your position?
Volunteered for many years before landing the Admin job a little over 5 years ago, which btw, was totally my plan.
What do you like most about working for Prevail?
I love being the first person to speak with many of our clients. I feel humbled by their incredible courage. I mean, imagine the terror of the thought of making that initial call. And then imagine being brave enough to do it anyhow.
Who is your hero?
Depends on who I am on the phone with. Our clients are my heroes.
What is your favorite quote?
“People aren’t thinking about you as much as you might imagine. Live the way you want.”—My Dad
What would you sing at Karaoke night?
In my fantasies I can belt it with the best and I’d totally kill Lady Marmalade. But that’s a fantasy.
What motivates you the most to serve others?
My motivations are completely selfish: It makes me feel so good to leave this office everyday knowing that I helped change at least one life for the better.
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Salad! Because virtually anything can be a salad! Tacos! Pasta! Shrimp! Potatoes!
What is your proudest accomplishment?
Buying a big, old, beautiful house and making it a home for my kids and myself.
What animal do you most identify with, and why?
River otter. They are playful, loving, and live in the moment.
Favorite Prevail memory?
Jan and I playing Barry Manilow’s Look Like We Made It over the intercom after we closed on a particularly challenging Friday. It was perfect and hilarious.
Favorite self-care practice?
I know I’m probably not allowed to say, “I chain smoke and drink wine in my bath tub”, right? So I’ll just tell the truth: In the summer, reading on my porch. In the winter, building a fire and sitting right next to it.
